10 Ten Moments of Sophomore Year

Hello All,

Although this year as been one of the hardest year by far I feel like I had a lot of great moments this year and I want to celebrate that as much as I want to celebrate the fact that i survived. I did a post like this last year which you can check out here.

Through the ups and downs of semester I am grateful for everything I got to experience. So, find out which moments/events were my favorite.

10. Being an officer of my Future Teacher's Club
It was a lot of work and sometimes a lot of stress but it was a lot of fun and I'm grateful that I got to work those two lovely ladies pictured above for the whole year and the 4 others who only serviced a semester. I learned a lot about myself and how to work as a team.

9. Relay for Life 2014
Relay for Life is one of the most awarding moments that my college does. I love that the future teacher club has a team each year. This event is always fun!

8. Homecoming
This year was my first year of going to homecoming, either at college or high school. At my college they have parade that different organization has the opportunity to take part in, they also have a tailgate and of course the game. It was so much fun and I can't wait to go again next year.

7. Found Out I Was Going on My Cruise
Although my cruise isn't until next week and didn't actually take place during my sophomore year. Finding out that I was going on this cruise got me through this past semester by having something fun to look forward to.

6. Apple Banquet
This event was so much fun because everyone who went got a chance to celebrate all the hard work we put into our club this year and we got to celebrate all our accomplishments.

5. Big E
This was my first year attending the Big E and all the food was yummy and we got to see some awesome exhibits.

4. Hunter Hayes (Both Concerts)
Yup, that's right I went to two Hunter Hayes concerts this year. The other was just a couple a weekends ago. But I have to say Hunter Hayes is one of the best performers I have ever seen life! Hannah and I both had so much fun together.

3. My bestie, Tori, came to visit me!
Tori is one my best and most trusted friends. It was great to get to see her especially because when I see her I can tell her anything and that weekend I had a much needed rant session/ Plus I always love seeing her, we always have bundles of fun no matter we do.

2. Wicked!
My amazing roommate brought me to see Wicked for my 20th birthday. It was probably one of the most creative gifts I've ever been given. Plus seeing Wicked was on my bucket list and I got to cross it off!

1. My First Byline!
Seeing my name in print was probably one of the most exciting things I've ever done. I got to cross getting something off my bucket list and in all honesty I never thought that it would actually happen. EVER!

Although life isn't always easy I am hopeful for what this summer will bring and I can't wait to see what happens in Junior year.

Also much like last year I made my Sophomore year video with all the pictures and videos from sophomore year. I encourage you to check it out! You do so by clicking here.

SEMESTER REWIND: Spring 2014

Hello All,

I can finally breath again because this semester this whole school year is over and let me tell you it has been the hardest years of my life but more on that in a different post. This is the first of three different end of the school wrap-up posts, sorry it might get a little repetitive for you guys but its my blog and I want to document my life to the best of my abilities.

With that being said I'm going to rewind this semester and take a look back at what I've done in the Spring 2014 version of...

-I learned about what Hold Up That is Whack is all about
-I started a new semester motivated and ready to go
-I found out that I was going on a Disney Cruise with my family!
-I took at look back at who I thought I'd be
-I got nominated for my first Liebster Award (and few more after that)
-I had an event that helped me re-evaluate my faith...in the best way possible!
-Had a few really awesome snow days
LtoR: Mandi and me
Yummy!
-I got my first Byline
Holding the front page from my paper!
-Tori FINALLY came to visit
LtoR: Tori and me
-I got to go to my cousin's wedding!
At my cousin's wedding
LtoR: Me and Mama J
-I went to see Wicked with Hannah! (Part 1part 2)
LtoR: me and Hannah
-Stepping Down from my position as an officer of the Future Teacher's Club
LtoR: Me, Lauren, Deanna, Heather and Cyndi
The Team (LtoR: Me, Heather, Becca, Deanna, Jaime, center Cyndi)
- Seeing Hunter Hayes, Danielle Bradbery and Dan + Shay in concert (post about this coming up post cruise)

-Finals obvi but who wants to think about that!

And that was the rewind of Spring Semester 2014. I can't believe how much I did and was able to accomplish. Hell I crossed two things off my bucket list! I am looking forward to junior year but I'm ready for the much need summer break!

Relay for Life 2014

Hello All,

Happy Monday! I know that isn't something most people normally say but today is the last Monday of classes which means that I only have 2 weeks until summer.

This weekend I participated in my college's Relay for Life! When I woke up this morning it was gross and rainy but I hoped and prayed it would stop and it would be a nice night. Around three in the afternoon we headed to the field and we set up our fundraiser. Oh yeah, I was on my Future Teacher's Club's team. We were selling food and coffee and hot chocolate. We were very popular.

We were able to hang out for a while and chit chat. And they opened up some bounce houses and we played in those for a while. Soon, it was time for opening ceremonies. While opening ceremonies was happening we started to feel some rain drops. Bye the time that the caregivers lap (the second lap of the whole relay) the sky opened up and started to pour.

It spend the majority of  the night pouring. I went back and forth between walking and sitting at the table. Luckily our PR thought to bring a pop up tent and we put that over out table so we were somewhat guarded from the rain.

At around 9:30 we look at the doopler radar and saw a HUGE storm coming in about 30 minutes and decided that we should start packing up and get ready to leave. I know the idea is that cancer never stops so neither do you. But right now is not a time for any of us to get sick and decided that it would be best if we left. In all honesty most of the teams were packing up.

We were drench! My sneakers were like standing in a lake they were so filled with water. And I took a 30 minute long shower and was warming up nicely But it was run and worth it.

This year's theme was super heroes so we all made capes to match the theme. And of course I have some awesome pictures to share. A quick disclaimer, most of these pictures were taken by our income PR officer and I stole them from facebook, they only have my watermark on them so that our pictures aren't used on fake page.

On the bouncy game thing (LtoR: me, Deanna and Heather
All our our capes, I'm in the middle back row, the one not wearing a hood
The E-Board (LtoR: Me, Heather, Cyndi & Deanna)
Our whole team (LtoR: me, Heather, Becca, Deanna, Jaime and Cyndi in the center
Holding up the tent in the wind and rain
Me :)
And that was my school's Relay for Life. I am so grateful that my school puts this event on each year and can't wait until next years!

APPLE BANQUET 2014

Hello All,

Happy  Monday! As some of you know on Friday I announced that stepping down as secretary of the future teacher's club on my campus. But even though I am stepping down, there are still some events left in the semester and Friday night was one of them.

The event was called Apple Banquet! This is event to celebrate the most activity members of club. All the other state schools and one private school get together and we eat, get awards and have a good night. Plus we get to dress up.

This year's Apple Banquet was themed after Disney so they had these cute center pieces. They are so cute I want to remember them and one day use them in a possible future daughter's nursery.

For good they had yummy appetizers including meatballs which we delish! They also had salad, pasta, chicken parm, salmon, potatoes and some veggie. The food was so yummy and was served family style which was unlike any other banquet I have ever been. They also had virgin apple martinis which we delicious and such a cute idea for a future teacher event!

The only food picture I took all night #sorrynotsorry
The even was so much fun! It was great to get to know some of our members better and celebrate all the hard work we've done this year. Plus everyone looked pretty snazzy!

The Spring E-Board! (LtoR: me, Lauren, Deanna, Heather & Cyndi)
The President and Vice President this year! (LtoR: Deanna (Pres) and Cyndi (VP)
Next Year's President & VP (LtoR: Heather (VP) & Cyndi (Pres.))
The full year officers (LtoR: Me, Deanna and Cyndi)
They had a photo booth with props and we used some for this fun picture!
Myself and Jaime
Our top participating members!
I am so grateful for the ability to have been part of this club. I had such a great time Friday night and can't wait for our last two events this year!

Life Changes

Hello All,

Happy Friday! I'm pre-writing this post, its actually Sunday night, what can I say I'm a planner but I feel like this week is going to be crazy busy and absolutely insane. Ending with some fun! And the fun, that I have not yet had inspired this post.

As some of you may know I have been the secretary of my college's Future Teacher's Club for the last two semester. I have absolutely loved the last 9 months being and officer. I have loved being able to go to the different leadership retreats that my schools offer (Read about the 2 I have gone to herehere and here).

I have learned a lot from being a student leader and hope to write a whole post about it eventually but the biggest thing that meaning an officer did for me was help me realize what I wanted.

Although to some people who know me personally and were there during the time of this decision might think that I came to this decision easily, I didn't. I actually totally forgot until I re-read the posts how much hearing someone call me a student leader meant to me. A lot of the time I will tell people I'm a student leader when I talk about school.

But at the same time I know that the organization I'm in, although I love it, is not the right fit for me. Which is hard for me to accept. Hell at times I still have hard time wrapping my mind around that fact.  But part of growing up is moving on.

Over the last few weeks I have thought long and hard about where I will go post this postion and I have some ideas and direction for next semester to make sure I stay involved on campus and I can't wait to share it with you all next semester.

As for some of the reasons, well you guys will understand more in about a month when I finally announce the BIG life change I have made, finally making the big decision I have hinted at all year!

I'm ready to finish out my last about 3 weeks as an officer and excited about the future. I wanted to thank the rest of the amazing e-board I got the oppurtunity to work with the last 9 months. So, shout out to Deanna, Cyndi, Heather, Lauren and espicially Megan who kept me sane during fall semester when I was really in the middle of my making my big desicion. I feel honored to get to work with all of you and I know each of you will make great officer. So, let's have fun tonight and celebrate the year!

And Spring Semester Begins!

Hello All,

Spring Semester is here and its time to go back to school. I feel determined this semester and ready to see what this semester might bring. I started classes on Monday and had all five  within the first two days! And what would a college blog be without talking about it?

Monday:
Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays I get to sleep until about 8:50! Which is awesome. But this morning I woke up around 8 because I heard Hannah's Alarm go off and I always wake up somewhat early on the first few days because I'm excited for the new semester.

Almost as soon as I got out of bed my head start to hurt with what I thought was a stress headache but SPOILER ALERT the headache NEVER went away all day! Hopefully I'm not getting sick! I got all nice and pretty for the day.

My first class of the day was English 307 which is a lit class all about analyzing it. I'm a little worried about this class but I love English and I'm kind of excited for the challenge. Also in my class was my real life and bloggy friend Natalie and one of my dorm neighbors Natalie!

My next class was a philosophy. The teacher seemed pretty cool  and their are only 7 people in the class. I'm slightly worried about this class because I don't know if I have the mind set for philosophy but I'm excited to try it.

I then had a five hour break, during that time I ran an errand for the Future Teacher's Club and Mama J came up to have lunch with me.

My last class of the day is a 2 and half hour one that only meets once a week. The teacher seems nice and she told us that she walks us through it and we'll get a lot out of it as long as we do the work.

After all my classes I went back to the dorm to have a floor meeting and then watch tv with Hannah.

Before bed on went on the website that houses all of the information about what classes you're taking and where the classrooms are, but it was down so I figured I would check again in the morning. I showered and got ready for bed.

Tuesday:
Today was a little harder to wake up, it no longer felt new and exciting but I still woke up extra early because I needed to check the website. I got dressed in the morning and once again got ready to dress to impress. When I was finished getting ready I checked the website and it was still down.

First I panicked and called Mama J and she helped me remember that the register's office probably had all the records on where classes were being held. So, I called and they helped me out right away.

I still had some time to spare before I had to go to class so I did some bloggy business, checked the email, added the link from Tuesday to the Facebook Page and to my Twitter and even had time to read some blogs.

Finally it was time to go, it was rainy day but wasn't raining to bad when I walked to class. While I was waiting outside I ran into my friend Allison  who happened to be in my class with me. I'm so excited because she's awesome and I love having classes with friends because when you need help they are just a phone call away.  Also while I was waiting I ran into Mandi and we made plains to hang out later that night. This class seems really interesting and I'm excited to see what I learn from it.

When I got out of that class I had to go straight to my next class but I realized that I had forgotten my little sticky note that had the room numbers on it on my desk and started freaking out that I didn't know where my classroom was. I ran in Mandi and Natalie and they helped me remember that I could check find it by looking at the syllabus the teacher emailed us.

I found the class and went there. I went straight to the class which was already so crowded. This class I'm really excited about because its all about professional presentation which will helpful when I'm in the work place one day.

My original plan was to take a nap after class today but by the time I got back to my dorm I had a to-do list that was too long to nap. So, I did some homework.

I then had to go to a meeting with the Future Teacher's Club officers to talk about this semester and make plans.

After my meeting Hannah, Mandi and I had a Merp date and Merp Christmas. It was great to see each other and spend time together, it also was a little bit of a stress reliever.

So, those were my first few days of my Spring Semester. If you're in college how were your first few days? Let me know in the comments below.

What is a State Meeting?

Hello All,

As many of my reader's know I am the secretary of Future Teacher's Club on my campus. What you may not know is how AMAZING this club really is.

Our club is located at two levels, our school club level but also at the state level! Now you may be wondering what exactly that means (I know that's what I would be wondering). Basically what is means is that we are sub branch of our state's Education Association!

Still a little confused? I don't blame because I haven't told you some of the really cool parts yet. Each month all college's in my state (well six of them) who have education programs at our schools get together. We plan events for our members that have to do with bonding, we plan events where they can work with children and we are invited to attend professional conference where we get the opportunity to network with school district.

How do we do all this? One Friday night a month we drive to state's capital where we meet with all the other schools. We sit in board room and we have a meeting where we discuss events, current education topics and make decisions for the student program.

My place marker
The meetings last about two hours and can be exhausting but I think there a lot of fun. I feel blessed that I get to be a part of this club and can't wait to see all the other things we come up with for the rest of the year.

What is the coolest activity you were apart of during your college years? Let me know in the comments below.

Color Combat Fall 2013

Hello All,

As many of you know I'm secretary of a Future Teacher's Club on my campus. A few weeks ago we went to an event hosted by state's education association. At this event all the schools that our part of state's education association student program got together for a day of games and team bonding.

My school brought 9 members and we got to know each other a lot better!

Top Row (LtoR): Andrea, Gabby, Heather, Deanna (President), and Bridget
Bottom Row (LtoR): Tessa, Kinsey, Me and Megan
We played many different team bonding type games. Although are club didn't get many points we had a lot of fun and was able to go home with great knew friends.

Here are some of other pictures from our event!

The members of the student program.
The Students Program, volunteers and our state level officers.
Tessa and I
Each team received an award and my school got the best dressed award as the Yellow Stingers!

Deanna our president receiving the award.
Our team with the award (LtoR Gabby, Kinsey, Megan, Tessa, Me, Andrea, Bridget and Heather holding the award in the middle)
Overall it was a super fun day and it was great to know our members a little bit better.

P.S. Happy Veterans Day! Thank you all who have served and are serving now!
