What I Love Wednesday...Harry Potter

Hello All,

So, ummm I can't remember if I did this for What I Love Wednesday but I'm doing it again today because I was inspired by a video (in more way then one but were only going to talk about the post). So, Happy Wednesday and welcome to what I Love Wednesday!

This week I Love Harry Potter!

I love that JK Rowling could create a story that brings you do a whole new world that I want to come back to time after time after time after time. (Thanks JK Rowling!)

I love that the little girl who fangirled over Harry, ended up with him in the end (Can that happen to me?)

I love the pranks that Fred and George played through out the series.

I love that Mrs. Weasely treated Harry like her own son.
Source
I love the friendship the trio had on screen

And off screen

I loved to hate Snape
Source
And Malfoy
Source
In fact they were my favorite characters.

I love that JK Rowling said at the end of the series "That Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home!"

I love that Harry Potter created such a culture around the world, I think its such an inspiration.

I love that these stories inspired a Youtuber to make this video (also the inspiration for this post)

And that's what I love this week. What do you love this week? Let me know in the comments below

Blogtember: Describe A Time When You Were Afraid - Day 4

Hello All,

Today's topic for Blogtember is, describe a time when you were afraid.

Source
But see here's the think, I don't have many memories of being afraid, maybe its because I lived shelter life and have never been in a scary situtation. Maybe its because I'm super brave...nope that's not it I'm terrified of needles and super brave person wouldn't be.

There's only been one movie I can think of that has made me jump out of the seat because I was so shocked and the first time I saw comes with a funny story so I'll share that with you.

Quite a few years a go a movie that many of you have probably heard of that goes by the name of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (This post will not contain any spoilers for the story line of the movie) came out. Being and my best friend, Amelia decide that we wanted to go go see and we went and saw it together the weekend it opened or at least one of the first few weeks it was opened.

The theater was packed to the brim with people and we got the last two seats near each other. Amelia use to have this thing where she wouldn't sit next to strangers in movie theaters so the fact that their were two seats right next to each other and one was an aisle seat was perfect.

The guy who was sitting next was probably about our age and I'm pretty sure he was sitting alone.

So, the whole movie theater was engrossed in the movie. That kind of engrossed where the movie is the only thing you see. It gets to the scene where Harry and Dumbledore are in the cave and Harry reaches into the water. And the other hand pops out. The whole entire theater jumps and screams, EXCEPT the kid that I'm seating next to. Who looks at me like, "That scared you?"

I remember being so offended. Like the whole theater jumped and the kid was judging ME! WHY?!!?!?!

So, that is the only time that I can think of that I have been scared. I guess I'm lame.

Television Connections

Hello All,

I'm back from my weekend away at a leadership conference, since I love blogging so much I will write a post about tomorrow, I'm exhausted now and I'd rather be more awake when I write about it. Although earlier this evening while I was tv I was inspired to write a post so here I am writing to all you guys.

As I mentioned in my Introduction Post I am a television nerd, I watch almost anything and love almost everything. I'm currently watching the original Beverly Hills 90210 series, if you follow at me twitter @Em_CollegeLife you've probably seen some tweets about it.

Anyway have gone off subject, one of the things I love is seeing an actor from one place in a another show. I Start to love the actor more and many times become a true fan of the show.

Anyways tonight I was watching 60 minutes (Don't ask me why, its not a show I normally watch it was just on and I was to lazy to change the channel) and they were doing a story on Maggie Smith (Professor McGongall in Harry Potter and Violet Crawley on Dowton Abbey).
Maggie Smith
I love Harry Potter so when this story came on I got engrossed and started to watch it. I hadn't realize how famous she was and how many awards she had won, she really is an acclaimed actress.

My favorite part of the story was learning that she played the Jean Brodie in the movie The Prime of Jean Brodie. The reason that excited me so much is that my high school drama club did a production of the  Prime of Jean Brodie and it was one of the best plays we ever put on.

Maggie Smith as Jean Brodie with her girls
Our Jean Brodie with her girls! (From L to R: Allyson, Cayla, Erin (Jean Brodie), Molly & Nikki)
I  loved Maggie Smith in Harry Potter, and now I want to see if I can find the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie online and watch it. I also know that Dowton Abbey is a big sensation and I was wondering if anyone here watches it. If you do, do you recommend it? Let me know.

XOXO,
Em.

P.S. The final picture is from my amazing friend Cayla who started a blog recently. You can check her blog out here
