Hello All,
Today's topic is one that I have been waiting to share with you guys for about 5 months. If you have been around these parts for a while you have heard about this big decision that I've been trying to make.Don't worry its not bad, its actually something I could have told you 5 months as the decision was pretty much made but I was worried that with events that I would be blogging about it would confuse people.
When I came to college I was convinced that I wanted to be a teacher. I would sit at my computer and think of all the cool lessons I would prepare for my students one day. I even became super involved in my campus Future Teacher's Club and even became the secretary. And that was amazing.
But over last summer I started to feel myself drift away from the idea of teaching. I came back in the fall and took my first education class and the nagging feeling started getting stronger and realized that as much as I didn't want it to be true teaching was where my passion was nor my heart.
At the end of fall semester I officially went to my school to change my major to what I am now which is liberal studies where I can have 2 or 3 minors. I chose 3 minors in creative writing, communication and media studies. And for all of you out there going well what is she going to do with that degree, all I can say is I have no clue but I'll let you know when I know.
I didn't post this until the end of the spring semester for a few reasons. 1. I wanted to make sure the important people in my life, family, friend and other future teacher e-board members knew instead of stumbling on blog and seeing that I changed my major. But don't worry now people all know.2. I also wanted to be able to share all the other events I did with the future club without confusing newer readers.
I have been spending the last few months of this semester trying to figure out who I am going to be on campus next year. (I hinted at this in this post). I think I have a somewhat clear view of where I'm going to go next semester but I'm going to keep it a secret for now but you definitely find out when I find the right places.
And now you all about the big decision I've been hinting at all semester! I'm so excited to be able to cross that off my goals list in a few days when I go over how I did on my semester goals!
I would also like to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported me over the last nine month while I made this hard, at times gut wrenching, second guessing filled decision. I love you all!
One other decision I would like to share with all of you as we are currently talking about decisions, is that Hannah and I have decided not to live together next year. We both have a different number of credits, I personally for many reason am 3 credits shorts of being junior and Hannah is a couple credit above a junior. Because of that we can't live in the same building, well at least the building we both can agree on. We are both okay with this decision. We are sad not to live together but both have found new roommates and are ready to start the next chapter of our lives.
Although this year has been the hardest academic year I have ever been through I am grateful to have gone through. I am looking forward to the next chapter and to be able to breath again!

Congrats on finding the right major! Better to find what you want now than in a few years after graduation!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I keep reminding myself! Thanks for reading!
